Doing it Right
The fashion industry is appallingly exploitative, but it doesn't have to be. We made the choice to have a positive impact on the planet, and it all starts with:
Sustainable Materials
Organic Cotton: a super-soft, biodegradable, natural fiber from a region where cotton's been grown for thousands of years. Indigenous to the area, our organic cotton is consciously farmed without any chemical pesticides or fertilizers, and it's regularly water by rainfall. Organic practices allow the cotton to grow naturally, and the surrounding environment to continue to thrive. It's the main component of every clothing item we make. We're always exploring and developing new fabric weaves and garment styles with this ultra-soft, versatile fiber.
No Polyester: recycled or not, polyester is the main driver of microfiber pollution that's damaging ecosystems globally — not what we consider "sustainable". Plus, as a plastic thread, it's notoriously saturated with hazardous chemicals that we especially don't want rubbing against our skin.
Respect
From start to finish, every person involved in making Happy Earth products is important to us. That's why over 95% of our products are made in Fair Trade certified factories, and all suppliers uphold workers' rights and abide by Happy Earth's rigid Code of Conduct based on principles from the International Labour Organization.
Our Code of ConductNet Zero Emissions
Greenhouse gas emissions are driving irreversible changes to our climate, and we're committed to reducing and offsetting 100% of our emissions. Through Climate Neutral Certified, our carbon footprint is calculated
and neutralized through financial contributions to third-party validated and verified programs.
We choose low energy options like organic cotton, sea shipping, and lightweight packaging; and we work closely with our manufacturer that shares these goals. The factory runs on solar energy and natural gas (instead of diesel), and our office is powered by renewables, substantially reducing GHGs.
Anywhere we can't avoid emissions, we invest in clean energy projects to completely offset.
Emissions ProjectsVegan & Cruelty-Free
Choosing vegan is an important step, but it's not the only one. How materials are collected and the methods used for processing can destroy environments and endanger the living things that inhabit that ecosystem. By opting for organic and sustainable, we're ensuring that the environment remains fit and healthy for all that reside there.
Giving Back
Every item purchased gives back to protect our planet
26,900 pounds cleaned up.
You can choose to clean up 1 pound of trash with every item you purchase. With the help of our ambassadors and international partners, we're on a mission to clean up our planet.
7,034,000 pounds GHG averted.
You can choose avert 150 pounds of greenhouse gases with every item you purchase. We're fighting climate change by supporting carbon emission reduction projects worldwide.
720,200 trees planted.
You can choose to plant 5 trees with every item you purchase. Through our current partnership with veritree and past partnerships with other organizations, the trees we plant make a difference.

As a member, Happy Earth is committed to donating a minimum of 1% of our revenue to charitable organizations through our Tree Planting, Climate Change, and Trash Clean-Up projects.
Climate Neutral Certified
Developing, producing, and shipping items all use energy and produce carbon dioxide. Wherever possible, steps are taken to reduce energy and fuel consumption - in fact, organic cotton has a much smaller carbon footprint than conventional cotton - but in today's world it's impossible to avoid greenhouse gases.
We're dedicated to making a positive impact, and that includes not contributing to climate change. Each item has a "carbon cost", which is the amount of carbon dioxide created to manufacture and ship an item to its final destination. We buy "carbon offsets" by supporting projects that prevent carbon dioxide emission, which balances out the carbon dioxide we create. This ensures that we - and you - aren't hurting the planet with your purchase.
The Details
Recycled Packaging
We use virtually no virgin material when we package and ship your orders out! Instead, we use 100% post-consumer, recycled plastic to make lightweight and durable bags, which can be recycled again.
They're better at protecting your order than quick-to-rip, compostable bags, and they're much lighter than cardboard, which cuts down on emissions and your shipping cost.
(We also offer 100% paper packaging as an option, for anyone opting plastic-free!)
Reducing Waste
We hate waste, and we've implemented policies to cut back as much as possible.
Plastic: in fashion, most products are individually bagged before they even leave the factory — but not ours. We use a single 100% recycled-polybag for every 10-20 garments. We also prioritize bulk shipping over sea, which cuts back on pallets and the associated plastic-wrap used.
Water: reducing water usage is easy with organic cotton, which uses 91% less water than conventionally-grown cotton. Our manufacturer also employs 100% waste-water recycling and rain harvesting.
Textile: we utilize low-waste cutting techniques during manufacturing, and we have a strict policy against destruction of unsold garments. Any products that aren't sold are donated locally.
Non-toxic Dyes
Our organic cotton is grown, harvested, and processed all to the highest standards - and that includes using safe, non-toxic dyes.
In fact, our materials and processes all comply with the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List.
